“Mungaravalli” is a remote village, about 6 km from Sagar, Shimoga District. The organization “Chaithanya Special Education Trust” founded to work for the welfare of special children with the help of like minded people from the surrounding villages.
It’s purpose is to serve children with mental and intellectually different strengths.
The Chaithanya School don’t have any financial backup. So this school run by donation from parents, well-wishers and the public. So we require financial support from organizations and donars. Currently, ‘Chaithanya School’ conducting classes in part of a government primary school and Chaithanya Trust chairman Shantala’s outhouse is the physio therapy center.
Children come from around 35 km distance. According to our survey, approximately 100-150 special children staying in this area. Trustees also sponsor training for teachers. Improvement in special children’s health and day today activities have been a ray of hope for trustees.

Chaithanya Special Children’s School:
The Chaithanya Special School started in Mungaravalli near Sagar in 2013.
The main purpose of this school is to educate mentally and intellectually different children and train them to succeed in life.
It is our priority to teach the skills needed for life and to encourage these children to have a successful life. We conduct various training programs that make them self-confident and self-reliant.
While this school is a small effort at present, it is our future goal to become a comprehensive academic center of confidence in children’s lives.
Shantala Suresh:
Chairperson of Chaithanya Special Education Trust(R) and chief executive of Chaithanya Special Education School, Mrs. Shantala Suresh, reside in Mungaravalli village, Sagar taluk of Shimoga district. She entered this field through ‘Home Based Education’ program, which provides education to special children in their homes.
This work experience and her concern towards special children helped her to run this school successfully.
Shantala completed DECSE (MR) and FCED courses, which required for special children education. She is successfully running this school from past three years. It is proud that the children here have won district, state and national awards at the Olympics for special children. Her family is fully cooperating with her activities.
